Dr. Deepali Kothekar heads the department of Biochemistry at SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sion, Mumbai. After graduating with double majors in Biochemistry and Microbiology from SIES college of ASC (in 1994), she pursued her passion for Biochemistry by achieving M.Sc.and then PhD. in Biochemistry. She has qualified the NET and SET examination for lecturershipaccredited by CSIR, UGC.

Passionate about teaching, Dr. Deepali believes in instilling knowledge, critical thinking and curiosity in her students. She maintains an active research laboratory with her undergraduate and post graduating students and her research interests include study of enzymes and role of natural products/phytoconstituents in alleviating drug toxicities. She has to her credit research projects (funded by the University of Mumbai and UGC)and research publications in National and International scientific journals. Her students regularly present their research at research meets and seminars.

Dr. Deepali is a member of the Research Review and Ethical Committee of SionAyurvedCollege. She has shared her expertise through consultancy to MD Ayurved and other research students in the area of characterization and antimicrobial activity of herbal preparations and organometallic compounds.As a member of the syllabus revision committee constituted by University of Mumbai (since 2005), she has actively contributed in framing and periodic revision of the syllabus for BSc and MSc course in Biochemistry.

In the field of academics, Dr. Deepali aspires to use her passion to develop young minds and work towards enabling the students sothat they transform a professional challenge into professional success.
