Dr. Mahabaleshwar Hegde, B.Sc, B.Sc. (Hons). M.Sc. Ph. D, retired as Professor of Biochemistry at University of Pune, India, taught Biochemistry at post graduate level for 35 years and guided 16 students for their PhD in the area of Enzymology, Molecular Biology and Nutrition. He has published over 90 publications including patents, book and book chapters. He has worked as visiting scientist at Sloan Kettering and as Research Centre and at Albert Einstein College of Medicine New York. USA. He is recipient of several National and International Awards. He is a life member of several national scientific societies. Dr. Hegde is Director of Center for Innovation in Nutrition Health Disease, at IRSHA, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Pune. He has developed innovative “FLAX BIO- VILLAGE CONCEPT” to bring back omega-3 fatty acids into food chain. He is Founder Director of Real World Nutrition Laboratory Foundation, Pune, to process Flaxseed, for producing omega-3 enriched dairy, poultry, bakery products, with the aim of attaining much needed omega-3 nutritional security in the country.
